Denelrond

History

Few would confuse Denelrond the Druid with the cleric of Hextor that bore the same name. Yet they are the same person. Denelrond served the evil god of war and discord for seven years in the city Souram before he gathered more enemies than his patron could protect him from and he fled. At the time he was a stylish, some might say foppish dresser as befitted the personal cleric of the cheif of the Dyer's Guild. Greedy he did whatever his master asked him to do as long as it brought him personal wealth. His harsh argumentative nature even angered the hierachy of the church of Hextor in Saurom and this prevented him from gaining power within the church.

Then one too many opponent vanished and his patron was arrested and locked up. Without his patron's protection Denelrond realised his days were numbered. Disgusing himself he fled to the hamlet of Pharanyas where he knew one of his patron's sworn enemies lived. Convinced that Engril was the one that caused his master's downfall Denelrond settled into the role of wandering druid to watch and wait his chance.

This was not easy. Unused to the hardships of living off of the land and squeemish by nature Denelrond found life as a druid difficult at first, but the past dozen years or so have mellowed him slightly. His hatred for Engril has not dimmed but his love of wildlife and nature has grown. He still harbours hopes of killing Engril but this is no longer the driving force that it once was.

Description

Deneldrond dresses in a nondescript pale brown robe over which he wares a plain grey cloak. A leather belt and sandles completes his atire. His hair is long and starting to grey at the temples and his beard is likewise starting to show a touch or two of grey. His dark brown eyes are set in a face tanned to a nut-brown by his years out living in the open all year. He is well liked but not entirely trusted by the hamlet, he can still be harsh and argumentative, especially when the weather turns cold or he is in the presence of Engril. Tucked into a pouch is the only link with his previous life, a signet ring with the cypher of the dyer's guild. Occasionally he will take this out and look at it when he is alone.
