The Temple Of Berei

Temple Of Berei

Nave
The nave of the temple is almost as wide as it is long. It is flanked on both sides by pillars carved from a warm honey coloured sandstone. The pillars have been carved to resemble sheaves of wheat, the holy symbol of Berei. A number of wooden pews fill the nave, carved into the wood of the back rest are ears of wheat and occasionally a small brown mouse.
Aisles
The aisles that flank the nave are lit by tall narrow windows. Most are of clear glass but the top of one is filled with coloured glass, a gift from a greatful parishoner.
The Hearth
A large open fire burns here from sunrise to sunset, the smoke drifting up through the stubby tower. The round stones of the hearth are stained black with soot as is the roof above the fire. Around the hearth are three long curbed benches. To the north the wall is pierced by three tall, wide windows each glazed with golden coloured glass.
The Trancepts
The stubby trancepts that lie to the east and west of the Hearth each contain two stone tombs, the final resting places of the great and the good of Aunnar. The less noble occupy the graveyard that surrounds the temple.

The current priest, Tedd is an elderly man who spent his early years adventuring. Now he potters in the temple garden and does what he can to help the villagers with their ailments. He hopes that one day, one of his former companions or a younger priest of his order will come and replace him as he fears he has few years left on this plane.
