Akai Naomasa

Occupation & History:
Akai is a ronin, a fighter for hire. He was training to be a samurai for his feudal lord Kin Hachirobei of the Dragon Clan, when his master was murdered by the evil Rakshasa, Lord Kawa Chishio. Instead of commiting ritual suicide Akai became a ronin and fled, continuing his training under the great sword master Takeda Ieyasu. Eventually to avoid the agents of lord Kawa he fled through a gate on Myoshima and found himself in Ochalea. Here he hires himself out as bounty hunter, body-guard and messenger, but he always longs to return and gain vengeance.
Physical Description:
His pale, stern face and hair, black as night do not make him stand out from those around him. His muscular physique and height of over six feet do however. He wears his green, dragon clan ashigaru, armour with pride and carries his katana and wakizashi with pride.
Attributes & Skills:
His is strong and hearty, and despite his bulk, very nimble. He is a fearsome foe on the battlefield, able to singlehandedly cut a swath through a host of orcs like a farmer cutting wheat. He has a smattering of knowledge on a variety of topics and is able to climb, jump and tumble with relative ease.
Values & Motivations:
He is very focused on his own aims and desires. He has one driving motivation, to return to Myoshima and kill Lord Kawa. To this end he pays others to find a method of returning be it by whatever means.
Interactions with Others:
His self-centred nature combined with his driving need to return home means that he has few close friends. He has no concern for good or evil aside from those who act without honour. His closest ally is his childhood friend and onetime wife Inaba Aikina.
Useful Knowledge:
He knows of Myoshima which few others have heard of. He has become addicted to zzonga fruit and when he feels he is getting nowhere with his plans for returning he will waste many a day under its spell.

Adventure Hooks:
For Low Level PCs (Levels 1-6)
Fishermen have been going missing at sea near Waping Piao and Akai hires the PCs to investigate. The villagers will no longer put to sea and they have no other way of making a living. It turns out that a ship sailed by undead pirates has been 'recruiting' new crew members.
For Medium Level PCs (Levels 7-14)
The village of Kaikiang Li is beset by evil spirits summoned by a wu jen that has been dominated by a shen lung dragon living in the caves that twist through the hills south of the village. The adult dragon is a haughty beast that believes that the village forges make the area untidy and will not be happy until they and the village are destroyed.
For High Level PCs (Levels 15-20)
A group of Rakshasa assassins have been sent from Myoshima to capture Akai and torture him before killing him. The emperor of Beitung asks the PCs to rescue Akai from their clutches before it is too late.
