Ogrogg Gristlechewer
The Seven Section NPC
Occupation & History:
Born in the northern wastes of Darokin on the borders of the Broken Lands Ogrogg's family was wealthy and influential within Ogre circles. He served, for a time, one of the powerful Ogre warlords Jhakred Scar-belly. As Ogrogg became more powerful Jhakred became fearful and banished him from the clan. Since then he has wandered the land raiding human settlements, alone or with a small band of renegade goblins bringing his own brand of law to the borderlands.
Physical Description:
Ogrogg is of average build for a troll; that is nearly nine feet tall and weighing in at nearly three hundred pounds. His left ear droops slightly when he is tired. He wears nothing but a hide loin cloth and a number of fetishes made from the bones and skin of his victims believing them to bring him luck and fortune.
Attributes & Skills:
Like all ogres Ogrogg is strong and tough. Unlike many ogres he carries a lot of wisdom with him. In his wonderings he came across a tome in a dwarven monastery and he felt somehow drawn to it. After teaching himself the language of the dwarves he studied the book and gained many useful insights. He is a skilled tracker as well as being nimble; climbing and jumping holds no fear for him.
Values & Motivations:
Survival is his prime motivation. Since leaving Jhakred's clan he has been hunted down by Jhakred's son, Mott. Jhakred desires Ogrogg's death while Mott is more interested in Ogrogg's magic shield that gives the wielder the power of flight.
Interactions with Others:
Ogrogg is rude and vengeful in his dealings with those he considers inferior, which is pretty much everybody, or those who have slighted him in the past.
Useful Knowledge:
He knows the otherwise secret places that Jhakred keeps his treasure and where his main lair is. For a price he may sell this information but not to a human or demi-human.
Distinguishing Feature:
His breath is foul and is said to be capable of killing a kobold at twenty paces, left ear droops when he is tired. His large studded Greatclub and his winged shield strike fear into his foes.
Followers & Cohorts:
His current raiding party consists of himself, 20 goblin warriors, 2 goblin adepts, a goblin rogue and his second in command; Arwa Cold-Venom a half-orc druid with his dire-boar companion. Using the goblin-rogue as a sniper and trap setter he can slow down merchant caravans allowing his goblin shock troops aided by the spell casters to swiftly dispose of the caravan guards. Any tougher characters are finished off by Ogrogg and Arwa acting in concert. They have no fixed base moving from location to location preventing Jhakred and the human authorities tracking him down.
- 10th level Cohort [NE Half-Orc Druid]
- 20 1st level goblin warriors
- 2 2nd level goblins [1 rogue, 1 adept]
- 1 3rd level goblin adept
Adventure Hooks:
For Low Level PCs (Levels 1-6)
The party are hired on as caravan guards for a Darokin merchant house who have been hit too many times by goblin raiders. On this occasion they encounter just the goblins, for some reason Ogrogg and Arwa have stayed away. The PCs should notice that the goblins are too well organised for a normal raiding party and if any survivors are questioned they mention Ogrogg and curse him for not aiding them in this raid.
For Medium Level PCs (Levels 7-14)
The players are hired by the local mayor to track down and kill Ogrogg and rid the area of his evil presence.
For High Level PCs (Levels 15-20)
Ogrogg and Jhakrad decide to set aside their differences and join forces for a raid on the city of Corunglain. Diversionary attacks on Fort Nell and Fort Runnels allow a force of well equipped humanoids led by Ogrogg, Jhakrad and Arwa to move swiftly from their base in the mountains. The PCs get wind of the attack and need to infiltrate the ogre camp in the mountains killing Ogrogg and Jhakrad before they launch their attack on Corunglain. The ogre force is large, Jhakrad having called in many of the clans greatest warriors and shaman for this mission.
